Summer Reading

Since this is created to help me learn to be better at my job, thought I'd post something job related. What are you reading this summer? Most of you know that my year is filled with reading Young Adult literature, which I truly love anyway. But, each summer, I make it a point to read ONE ADULT BOOK! This summer, I started reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer. She's the author of the Twilight series. The Host is totally different from her popular vampire series. I am not too far into it yet, but am enjoying it so far. It has a distinct sci fi feel to me. I am hoping that it gets a little more adventurous!
Fill me in on what great books you are reading at this time!

  1. First off... Kudos for you for finally jumping into the whole blogging thing. Im a follower girl. That also reminds me I need to blog, well, once Tim gets my main PC working again. Laptop's too slow.

I just finished reading Nora Roberts Sign of the Seven Trilogy. Blood Brothers, The Hollow and Pagan Stone. I had gotten the 1st book a few weeks back from a friend who pitied me for the fact that about 5 years or so ago, Tim had accidentally thrown out EVERY BOOK I OWNED that had been stored in the storage room after we moved here. Only books I own now are scrapbooks, cook books and whatever the kids have. I didn't get to read much before we went on vacation but I picked it up the day after we got home. Finished it on Monday and couldn't wait for my friend to come home from vacation to read the 2nd one. It was so good. Went the library (thought of you while I was there by the way hehe) and got the 2nd and 3rd. Read them both, each in one day and now Im done. Awesome series.

  2. I read a variety of books. I am in 2 books clubs that meet once a month so that makes me read 2 books, not of my choosing, and then whatever else I can fit in. But it is amazing how many 'good' books I have read that I probably never would have had I not been in these book clubs.

One book that I LOVED was The Time Traveler's Wife. It does get confusing but if you can avoid getting caught up in the timeline and just enjoy the love story, you will love it too. I went back and read it a second time right after the first (and I usually never read a book twice). It made more sense with the second reading and made me fall in love with it. The movie is coming out in August and I can't wait to see it.

I highly recommend giving this book a shot!
